and for dinner: mom's chili

1 lb. hamburger meat                         
1 large onion, chopped
1/4 bell pepper, chopped
1 garlic bulb, mashed 
2 small cans kidney beans
2 small cans chili hot beans 
2 large cans tomatoes, chopped
1/4 cup ketchup
dash of hot sauce
4 tbsp. chili powder
salt and pepper to taste
dash of sage

Brown meat, onion and peppers. Drain off all grease. Add garlic, kidney beans, chili hot beans, tomatoes, ketchup, hot sauce, chili powder, salt and pepper and simmer for 1 hour. For spicy chili, add more chili powder and dash of sage. Remember it will burn easily so keep an eye on it. When my brother went for a second bowl, I knew it was good. You can also sprinkle it with shredded Cheddar cheese.
