How fun would it have been to work on this shoot! White sands and hot-air balloons... I love it.

inspired: managing my money

One of my New Year's Resolutions is to really manage my money. I've started by tracking my daily expenses. I write each transaction on a sheet of notebook paper and I signed up for LearnVest's Money App. It links my bank accounts and tracks my credit and debit card purchases. So far, 10 days in, I've been focused on really thinking about how much I want to spend on items. I hope this is something that becomes a habit and not a fading trend. Now that I'm older I really want to start planning for a family and buy a house one day. I know that I'm late in starting, but it's never too late. I also now know the worth of money and what it means to me. I know that I'd rather have a job that I love and people that are amazing to work with. I know that nothing is worth giving up happiness and freedom. But I also know that I want material things and to create experiences and money is needed to do that. While I'm on this journey I don't want to loose site of the important things. I found these two videos very inspiring.

current: i'm over winter

I know, winter just started (officially on December 21st). But it seems like it lasts forever, in New York it does anyway. The sky is always cloudy and gray. And I desperately need some sun. I was really happy when I saw Chelsea Fuss's (of Frolic), blog post, "how to survive winter." She has 13 awesome tips. I'm going to add, find a fireplace to cozy up to, have a relaxing bath (fill the tub with a cup of Epsom salts plus three drops of lavender and olive oils), take on a creative project, and treat yourself to something you've been eyeing, but have been afraid to purchase.

heart: thirty-one

Yep, today is my birthday! I can't believe I'm actually 31... I'm no spring chicken. Everything that I wished for last year on my birthday came true. I can't say what I'm wishing for this year, but I am truly thankful. It's easy for me to be reflective, especially because this is when everyone is thinking about things they could've done differently or things they'd like to change. Going forward, I just want to embrace everything that's to come. Fingers crossed for all good things!

inspired: lili diallo

I had the great pleasure of meeting Lili while working at Domino. We got to work together again while here at Country Living magazine. Awhile ago, she mentioned that she was starting a webzine and I was happy to see that it's officially up and running. It's called Billie. Check it out. You're going to love her entertaining feature.
